I hoped this would be a horrible joke. :(

Hey Arnold! co-developer Steve Viksten passed away this week.…

In addition to writing many great episodes, Steve voiced the infamous Oscar Kokashka, the lazy tenant in Arnold's boarding house. Whether he was trying to steal off someone's dinner plate, or bugging his wife for a sandwich, he emerged as one of the surprise highlights of this nutty series.

What's really sad though, is that he was only 53, which by today's standards is relatively young. We may find out what happened as more details arrive.

Steve also wrote a handful of classic Rugrats stories, along with a family of writers including Paul Germain, Joe Ansolabehere, Jon Greenberg, and Peter Gaffney, all of whom also wrote for Hey Arnold! and/or Recess. He most recently co-wrote a Simpsons episode.
